Writing may sound easy and fun but it can also be scary for some. Different fear about running out of ideas, having a good title, and the most imaginable reason is that there could be a lot of grammar Nazis everywhere to critique your work.
Growing up in a country whose first language is not English, I have often encountered people who have such fear from school and even at the work place. First off, you can always write something using a language that you are most comfortable in, and second, you can always try to write using whatever language that you would want to develop and learn. It’s not always be easy, but if you have the drive, you can achieve what you want.
Below are some of the reasons why we may consider writing:
Writing can be a hobby
For starters, it almost always originates as a hobby. As a student, we all have experienced being forced to write assignments such as essays and sorts. Some people do enjoy this and tend to write about something else other than what was assigned. It can be something about your crush, a food that you recently ate, your first date, first kiss, first travel and all the other firsts.
Of course, not only students can relate to this, at any stage in your life that you feel like writing and want to make it a hobby, then go for it.
Writing can be a job
This is probably one of the best reasons, especially if you are really into writing. Who wouldn’t appreciate acquiring financial returns while doing something that you really love?
Whether you are a pro or a newbie, it is always an option for one to take writing as a job. There is a wide range of topics to write about, a lot of publishing companies, websites and other sources that you can choose from. You can write a book, an article, a poem, a review, for blogs, for a magazine company, become an eBook author, and the list goes on.
One of the perks of being a professional writer is that you can select to work from home or in the office. It can also be a dedicated freelance job, an occasional side line, or a full time job.
Writing can be a creative outlet
Whether you are trying to find your hidden talent, your artistic side, or simply just killing time, writing brings out your creative side. Though it is not always easy to be creative, we can always spare some time to find our inner channel. Try to think of something that we would like to express, then grab our writing materials and watch the magic happen.
Everyone needs a break from a very busy day to day routine; writing may serve as a form of therapy and a great tool to develop one’s ability to express ourselves. We allow our deepest insights to bloom through our creations.
Writing is fun
Okay, this may not be applicable to everyone, but hey writing is free, and anything free is usually be fun. You can always write whatever, whenever, and however you want; there is basically no limit to it. Well unless it is for a job with specific instructions. For me writing feels like an escape, a form of relaxation, freedom, and passion.
You can always choose if you would like to publish your article, some would like to dedicate it to a special person, send it as a present, or simply just keep it to yourself. Such activity is also good for broadening you imagination and sharpening your skills. The best part is that you get to be whoever you want to be.
If you would like to try writing as a hobby, it is definitely not a bad idea, and if you would like to try writing for a job, then much better! There are tons of other reasons why you can write, and above all else, why not?
